Cadets of National Cadet Corps (NCC), Karnataka-Goa, participating in the 15-day ocean expedition camp, undertook Swachh Bharat cleanliness drive in Udupi on Saturday (October 4, 2025).

Organized by No. 6 Karnataka Naval Unit of NCC, Udupi, under the overarching guidance of the Karnataka and Goa NCC Directorate, the camp is being conducted under the aegis of the Group Head Quarters Mangaluru. The camp is a key event in the quest for the coveted All-India ‘Ocean Sailing Expedition – MENU (Most Entertaining Naval Unit ) Trophy.’ In all, 72 selected cadets of NCC Naval wing are participating in the camp.

Participating cadets cleaned the camp site — Sharada Residential School, Udupi — and Malpe Beach during the drive. The initiative is aimed at encouraging cleanliness, community participation and maintaining hygiene in the surroundings. The cadets also undertook a route-march in Udupi and Malpe to spread the message of cleanliness drive.

The event highlighted how small minor voluntary contributions can contribute to greater social change with the message “cleanliness is everyone’s duty.” By undertaking the drive, the cadets demonstrated how they understand the life through unity and discipline thereby strengthening NCC’s service mission.

After the cleanliness drive, the cadets underwent training in the maintenance of sailboats and boat rigging at the NCC Boat Pool in Udyavara near Udupi. The official MENU starting from Monday (October 6, 2025) will inculcate leadership, discipline, team work, cooperation and commanding qualities among the cadets.
