The National Alliance of People’s Movements (NAPM) on Monday alleged that the Delhi police were not taking any action against an attack on a 23-year-old environmental activist, who was trying to prevent trees being cut in a forested area in Dwarka.

When contacted by The Hindu, a spokesperson from the Delhi police refused to make a comment.

NAPM, a pan-India platform for organisations working to protect the environment, said that on February 9 a tractor was used to hit Naveen Solanki, 23, who has been working to protect 120 acres of forest cover in Dwarka.

Neelam Ahluwalia, a member of NAPM, said that the police had not yet registered an FIR based on Mr. Solanki’s complaint and the Commissioner of the Delhi Police has not responded to a letter sent to him, highlighting the issue.
