BJP Tamil Nadu president Nainar Nagenthran on Sunday criticised the DMK leaders for allegedly making derogatory remarks on public platforms in a way that undermines women’s dignity.
In a post on X, Mr. Nagenthran said welfare schemes including monthly financial assistance are created to improve the livelihoods of people and to build an egalitarian society. “However, the DMK constantly points to these efforts in a demeaning manner and turns them into political tools.”
Sharing a video of a DMK functionary questioning about the annual income of a woman beneficiary of Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme, after she had raised some concerns regarding inflation during a public meeting, Mr. Nagenthran said, “This kind of arrogance led to the defeat of the DMK in both 1977 and 2011, keeping them out of power for 12 years the first time and 10 years the second time. Their downfall each time has been a result of misusing power and acting with the wrong intentions. Now it is going to happen to them once again,” he said.
He also said, “The public is closely watching to see what action Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is going to take against the members of his party who continue to make such mocking statements against women.”
