The Pallikkathodu police on Tuesday arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly attempting to kill the son of a man he had murdered last year. The accused has been identified as Sreejith, a native of Akalakkunnam.

According to the police, on March 20, Sreejith tried to run over the school-going boy with a pickup van while the child was returning home. However, the boy managed to escape unhurt.

Sreejith had been arrested and remanded in 2024 for beating the child’s father to death. After securing bail, he allegedly set his sights on eliminating the victim’s son as well.

The police produced the accused before a magistrate, who remanded him to judicial custody.
