BJP Andhra Pradesh State president and Rajamahendravaram MP D. Purandeswari on Saturday handed over financial aid of ₹50,000 to each of the families of five youths who drowned in the Godavari on February 26 at Tallapudi village in East Godavari district.

The five drowned while they reportedly attempted to cross the river by walking across it on Sivaratri. Accompanied by MLC Somu Veerraju, Ms. Purandeswari consoled the bereaved families. “We will try to provide employment for the families of the five youths,” stated Ms. Purandeswari in an official release.
