A violent confrontation between two students from Mizoram turned fatal late Saturday when one of them was fatally stabbed in Nagaroor.
The deceased, V.L. Valentine, was a fourth-year student of Rajadhani Institute of Engineering. The accused, T. Lawmsangzuala alias Loma, a third-year student at the same college, was apprehended at the scene.
According to the Nagaroor police, the incident occurred at 10.40 p.m. at Nedumparambu junction, close to the college. Valentine sustained a fatal chest wound from a knife attack. Despite being rushed to a private hospital in Kallambalam and later referred to another in the city, he succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Sunday.
Investigations suggest the altercation began in a friend’s room, where the group had been consuming liquor. Following a heated argument, Loma allegedly called Valentine to the Nedumparambu junction, where the fatal attack took place. The duo had a history of conflicts, the police stated.
The police have taken the accused into custody, and further investigations are under way.
