Yadgir Rural Police have registered a case against an individual and also various microfinance companies for locking the house of a woman in Yaddalli village in the district.

According to an FIR registered on Sunday, a 53-year-old complainant Geetha Ashok Kumar and her sister-in-law had taken loans from various microfinance companies and also from an individual to provide treatment to Geetha’s son Mallikarjun who is suffering from a kidney disease.

Geetha could not repay the EMIs regularly due to financial crises after her sister-in-law went to her parental house for the delivery of her baby.

Thereafter, Geetha and Mallikarjun went to Bengaluru three months ago in search of a livelihood by locking their house. However, when they returned to their village after Mallikarjun seriously fell ill, they found that their house was locked with another key.

According to the complainant, their house was locked by either microfinance companies or the individual who threatened to lock the house if dues are not paid immediately.

As per the FIR, Mallikarjun is now admitted to a government hospital in Yadgir for treatment.

The police have registered a case under Sections 126(2), 352, and 351(2) of the BNS.
