A mass cleaning drive was conducted at Swamimalai railway station on Tuesday.

According to official sources, the mass cleaning exercise was jointly organised by National Service Scheme volunteers from Government Higher Secondary School, Swamimalai, Thanjavur District Rail Users Association, Rail Passengers Association, Papanasam and Swamimalai Lions Club.

While the NSS volunteers took up the cleaning of the railway station premises, the Thiruvalanchuzhi Village Panchayat sanitary workers cleared the wild growth on the carriageways leading to the railway station, sources said.
