The police arrested a man on Thursday (March 6) for allegedly creating a tiger scare using an old video at Karuvarankundu. Jerin Abraham, 36, had reportedly used a three-year-old video of a tiger as his WhatsApp status, claiming that he had confronted a tiger while travelling through a plantation at Karuvarakundu at night.

Jerin’s video spread fear among the people of Karuvarakundu, as he continued to insist that he had confronted the tiger. However, Forest officials could not find any evidence to support his claims. After monitoring surveillance camera footage and examining the area, officials found that Jerin’s claims were false.

He reportedly admitted faking the video, which he downloaded from YouTube. Jerin was arrested on a complaint filed by the Forest department for causing panic among people and misleading officials.
