Man dies of electrocution while cleaning bakery in Chennai

A 26-year-old man who was working in a bakery shop was electrocuted to death while cleaning the premises in K K Nagar, Chennai, on Sunday (March 30, 2025).

The victim S. Neel Akash, a resident of Perumal Koil street, Iyyapanthangal, was working in a bakery located on 80-feet Road in K.K. Nagar. Police said he had opened the bakery around 6 a.m. and was engaged in cleaning work as pest control work was undertaken in the shop on Saturday night. He came in contact with a live electric wire on the floor and was electrocuted.

The shop owner Vidhya Dharman took him to a private hospital in Vadapalani, where doctors declared him brought dead. The K.K. Nagar police, on being alerted, then sent his body to the ESI Hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered.
