A man pronounced guilty in a robbery case slipped out of First Additional Subordinate Court in Coimbatore on Monday evening, before the judge delivered the quantum of sentence.

The judge pronounced five years of rigorous imprisonment for D. Senthil Kumar, 39, and issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against him.

Senthil Kumar was among three persons arrested for assaulting and robbing Mahesh Maruthaiah from Srinagar at Chokkampudur in Coimbatore city on August 26, 2006.

Selvapuram police registered a case against the trio under sections 392 and 397 of the Indian Penal Code and arrested Senthil Kumar and Ramesh alias Ramesh Kumar, 38, from Mettur in Salem district. The police were not able to arrest the other accused Mathi alias Mathivanan.

Ramesh had died during the course of the trial. A special team has been formed to nab Senthil Kumar.
