A male English teacher in a government middle school in Krishnagiri has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a boy. The survivor, a class 10 student of the same school was attending the wedding of the son of another teacher, where he was allegedly assaulted. According to the police, the accused, who was also attending the wedding had assaulted the boy at the toilet of the venue.

The survivor had complained about the crime to the school headmaster, who had in turn assured of action. Later, the boy’s parents also had approached the headmaster. The survivor in the meantime was subjected to taunts of other boys as soon as they heard of rumours. On Thursday, the survivor had attempted to take his life, which was foiled by his family. On Friday, the locals along with the family staged a blockade at the school. Following this, police picked up the accused from the school and handed him over to the All Women’s Police Station.

The school education department led by Chief Education Officer was holding parallel inquiry at the school alongside the Child Welfare Committee team.

After day long interrogation, the accused was arrested on Friday night.
