The spiritual leadership of Joseph Mar Gregorios would be a blessing for the Jacobite Church and the whole society, said Raphael Thattil, Major Archbishop of Syro-Malabar Church, here on Wednesday as congratulatory messages came in after the consecration of Malankara Metropolitan Joseph Mar Gregorios as the Catholicos of the Jacobite Malankara Church in Lebanon on Tuesday.

He succeeded the late Baselios Thomas I, and was consecrated in Lebanon by the head of the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church, Ignatios Aphrem II.

The Archbishop also prayed that the new Catholicos would be blessed by the Holy Spirit to lead the Church in peace, fraternity, and unity.

The Kerala Catholic Federation also congratulated the new Catholicos of the Jacobite Church.
