The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is making all arrangements to ensure the successful conduct of its maiden conclave, Mahanadu, in Kadapa, but accommodating all its delegates appears to be a tough task.

The party leaders expect a turnout of 25,000 members for the three-day event starting May 27, who include those holding party responsibilities, including cluster in-charge leaders, mandal conveners, village committee members from across Andhra Pradesh.

On the final day, the party expects a whopping turnout of 5 lakh members, when party national president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu addresses the gathering till afternoon.

At the higher level, the party expects to provide better reception and accommodation facilities to the Ministers, legislators, their family members, close followers, other public representatives, and the leaders who recently bagged coveted nominated positions.

However, the limited accommodation infrastructure in Kadapa is likely to pose a serious challenge.

There are fewer than half-a-dozen top-notch hotels in the city, which will be in great demand. This has forced the party to block kalyana mandapams, convention centres and even private school hostels to accommodate the visiting functionaries.

“The city can absorb a crowd of 10,000 persons, while the remaining will be accommodated in neighbouring towns such as Rayachoti, Rajampeta, Pulivendula, Badvel, and Proddatur. It is quite manageable,” a public representative from the district, who is in the know of things, confides.

Fearing a last-minute tumult and to avoid disappointment, some State-level leaders prefer to stay in far-off places such as Tirupati, Nellore, or Nandyal, and travel all the way for two to three hours to reach the venue on time.

Meanwhile, MP (Nellore) Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, who is in the coordination committee, inspected the arrangements at the venue along with MLC B. Ramagopal Reddy, TDP State president Palla Srinivas and district president R. Srinivasa Reddy, AP Maritime Board Chairman Damacharla Satya and Palamaner MLA N. Amarnath Reddy.

Mr. Prabhakar Reddy assured to factor in all elements to ensure a comfortable stay for all the dignitaries.
