B Thirumalai, writer and former journalist from Madurai, has won the first prize for his book “Namakku Yetharku Vambu.”

The Karur Thirukural Peravai celebrated its 39th anniversary and the centenary of Kundrakudi Adigalar. To mark the celebrations, the organisers conducted a competition and chosen Mr. Thirumalai’s book as the best among over 70 entries received from all over the State. The second prize was bagged by Prof Kirungai Sethupathi for his book ‘Yendrum Vaazhkiraargal Ivargal” and writer Punithavathi’s book “Thamarai Nenjam” bagged the third prize, a press release said. The prizes were given by Lion. Dr Stalin in the presence of Peravai secretary Melai Palaniappan.
