The Kasaba police in Kozhikode has issued a look-out notice against actor Koottickal Jayachandran, who is facing charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act for allegedly molesting a four-year old girl in the city.

Mr. Jayachandran, a resident of Mankavu in Kozhikode, though hailing from Koottickal in Kottayam, has been absconding since the Kerala High Court denied his anticipatory bail plea a week ago.

The case, registered at the Kasaba police station in June 2024, is based on a complaint by the girl’s mother that the actor had sexually abused her daughter taking advantage of a family dispute. He has been charged under Section 376AB of the Indian Penal Code.

A mimicry artiste before his movie stint, Mr. Jayachandran has acted in a handful of Malayalam movies including Chanthupottu, Memories, and Drishyam.
