A routine loan recovery visit took a tragic turn at Madhura Nagar on Thursday evening, when a credit card agent ended up being bitten by a pet Rottweiler after a case of mistaken identity escalated into violence.
Satyanarayana, a recovery agent tasked with collecting ₹2 lakh in unpaid credit card dues from a private employee, Nandivardhan, landed at an address in Jawahar Nagar. Instead, he met Shekar, also known as Nandu, who he assumed was the elusive debtor.
“Thinking Shekar was just being evasive, the agent pressed him to pay up. But Shekar insisted he wasn’t Nandivardhan and assaulted him,” said an officer from Madhura Nagar police station.
The fight took a turn when Shekar’s untethered Rottweiler jumped into action, sinking its teeth into the agent’s left leg. Satyanarayana filed a police complaint and a case was filed.
