BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao has dashed off a letter to Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, calling out the Congress government’s caste census as full of errors and incomplete.
In a letter to Mr. Gandhi, a copy of which was released to the media on Wednesday, Mr. Rama Rao termed the government’s report as dishonest efforts and wondered how the senior Congress leader could present half-baked report in the Parliament. He said the action clearly showed that Mr. Gandhi and the State Congress wanted to mislead Parliament and the nation and most importantly, the people of Telangana. He maintained that the data from the Samagra Kutumbha Survey (SKS) done by BRS in 2014 showed BC population in the State as 1.85 crore, which came to 51 per cent of the population and if the BCs among the minority community were also included, it rose to 61 percent.
He said the latest data by the government was erroneous and said the BC population should have gone up in the decade. He sought to know how the BC population fell from 51 per cent to 46 per cent and demanded that the Congress government should come clean on this discrepancy. He ridiculed the Congress government’s commitment for 42 per cent reservation for the BCs in the local bodies polls and demanded an honest answer from the top Congress leaders on the Kamareddy BC declaration by the party ahead of 2023 Assembly elections.
He warned that the BC communities will not keep quiet and will fight the attempts to stifle their rights. “Rahul Gandhi should take note of the huge uproar this report has caused among the Telangana BC communities. BC leaders are upset with this misleading and incomplete, erroneous report that they decided to tear it up,” he said.
“Your unfulfilled guarantees, your fake promises, and your malicious declaration are being watched by the Telangana society. The payback will not just be in the upcoming local body elections but in every other election in the State henceforth. For all your lies, your deceitfulness and dereliction of the BC declaration, Rahul Gandhi should bow down in front of the BCs of Telangana and apologise,” the working president said.
