KMC chief focuses on sanitation

Kurnool Municipal Corporation (KMC) Commissioner P. Viswanatha said that priority would be given to maintaining sanitation in the city. A day after taking charge, the Commissioner inspected several areas in the city and asked officials to focus on sanitation.

Mr. Viswanatha visited old Tungabhadra Pump House, Vehicle Repair Shed, bio-mining plant at Gargeyapuram Dump Yard and the sterilisation centre for dogs along with other officials. He instructed officials to complete the pending repair works at the earliest and ensure drinking water is provided in the city.

Meanwhile, the corporation would be getting 91 e-vehicles for door-to-door collection of garbage. Tenders have already been called and the corporation would be getting the vehicles in two to three months. Nearly 200-220 tonnes of garbage is generated in the city and its surrounding areas and tenders have been called for constructing a waste energy plant to dispose them.

Similarly, the corporation is planning to produce 4 lakh tonnes of fertilisers from garbage next year and distribute it to farmers through various marketing agencies.
