The Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) which was recently designated as a ‘large airport’ will be adding more flights and new routes from the month of March.

Ho Chi Minh City has become KIA’s latest international destination as Vietjet announced flight operations from Bengaluru. The airline has announced that flights connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Bengaluru will commence on March 19, with three return flights per week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Two new destinations

Bengaluru along with Hyderabad are the two new Indian destinations of Vietjet which currently operates flights from New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Kochi.

“Bengaluru is one of India’s largest and fastest-growing cities, the capital of Karnataka, known as a leading technology hub and the Silicon Valley of India. Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana State, is one of the most beloved cities in India. It is known as the City of Pearls and has captured many travelers. Additionally, people and tourists from India will have opportunities to visit Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s most vibrant city, famous for its street food, and explore destinations across the Asia-Pacific with Vietjet’s flight network,” the airline said.

On the domestic front, Air India Express will commence services from Hindon on March 1 with direct flights to Bengaluru.

Bookings open

Bookings for the new flights are now open on the airline’s website, airindiaexpress.com, as well as other major booking platforms, with inaugural fares starting at ₹6,000 for Bengaluru–Hindon, and ₹6,200 for Hindon–Bengaluru. The airline will operate six days in the week except on Saturday.

In addition, Japan Airlines (JAL) has announced that during the summer schedule period it will increase its frequency on the Tokyo (Narita)-Bengaluru route.

“To accommodate the high demand, the Narita-Bengaluru route will increase frequency to daily from March 30 to October 25,” the airline said.

JAL currently operates five flights per week on this route making KIA the the only airport in South India with direct connection to Japan.
