A 29-year-old construction worker from Kerala died in an accident in Salem on Sunday (January 19, 2025) evening.

Akilesh, 29, was a resident of Palakkad in Kerala. On Sunday, he and his friend Dinesh, 37, left for Dharmapuri on a moped for work. When they were near the Salem airport at Kamalapuram, Akilesh, who drove the moped, reportedly attempted to overtake a lorry.

He, however, lost control of the vehicle and fell on the road; the lorry ran over him, killing him on the spot. Dinesh sustained injuries and was admitted to a private hospital in Salem.

The Omalur police have registered a case, and further investigation is underway.
