Industries have welcomed the State government’s move to notify the Thandya industrial area near Nanjangud and the Hebbal industrial area in Mysuru as special investment regions.

Expressing joy over the decision, KASSIA president M.G. Rajagopal said on Tuesday that the decision will help in aiding infrastructure development in the industrial zones.

Hebbal special investment region consists of Hebbal, Hootagalli, Belawadi, Belagola, Koorgalli, and Hebbal 2nd phase besides some parts of Mysore and Srirangapatna taluks. Thandya investment region covers Adakanahalli, Kochanahalli, Kadakola, Immavu, Thandya 2nd Phase, first stage, Thandya 2nd stage among others. The proposed film city project is also part of the region.

KASSIA has also welcomed the recently unveiled new Industrial Policy 2025-30. The policy presents a progressive roadmap for industrial growth and employment generation in the State. With an ambitious target of creating 20 lakh jobs and attracting investments worth ₹7.5 lakh crore, it lays a strong foundation for sustainable and inclusive development, he said.

KASSIA had sought the inclusion of certain elements in the new Industrial Policy, including the discriminatory sectoral classification in the Industrial Policy 2020-25, which was only partially considered, and more elements could have been added to support the growth of the SME sector, he said in a note here.

He said the investment incentive subsidy has been announced only for micro and small industries in Bangalore’s rural district. Since micro and small industries are essential for large and medium industries, small industries are mostly concentrated in districts/taluks where large and medium industries are developed. Small-scale industries cannot develop in districts/taluks where large and medium-scale industries are not concentrated.

Therefore, KASSIA has urged the government to extend subsidies on industrial-ready sites required in all sectors for micro and small-scale industries that support large and medium-scale industries, as well as stamp duty exemption, concession in registration fee, land conversion fee exemption, electricity subsidy, etc.
