Minister for School Education and Literacy Madhu Bangarappa said that II PUC students who failed exam-1, but registered for the annual exam-2 will be eligible to appear for the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET-2025) counselling from the first round itself. “This provides an opportunity for students who failed in exam-1 to continue pursuing higher education,” he said.

Out of a total of 1,69,353 students who did not clear the exam-1, around 1.57 lakh (92.4%) students have now enrolled for exam-2, which will be held from April 24. The result of exam-2 is expected to be announced before the KCET result. “CET authorities have confirmed they will wait to accommodate these students (second examination candidates), ensuring their eligibility based on the second exam results,” Mr. Bangarappa said.

The Minister also highlighted the positive turnout for exam-2, noting that over 70,000 students who had already passed in exam-1 have enrolled again to improve their scores.

“To see 92.4% of students who have not cleared the exam, enrolling for exam-2 is a very positive sign. Remedial classes are being actively conducted for those enrolled for exam-2,  with attendance rates as high as 95%, indicating strong student commitment. Mock exams are also being conducted to prepare the students better for the second and third examination,” he added.
