Iconic Twitter logo, blue bird 'Larry' auctioned for nearly $35,000

The iconic blue bird logo that once adorned Twitter’s former San Francisco headquarters has been sold for $34,375 at an auction. The 560-pound (254-kilogram) sign, measuring 12 feet by 9 feet (3.7 metres by 2.7 metres), was removed after Elon Musk rebranded the social media giant to X.
The auction was conducted by RR Auction, a company specialising in rare and collectible items. However, the buyer’s identity has not been disclosed.
Musk had previously auctioned off several items from Twitter’s past, including company signs, memorabilia, office furniture, and even kitchen equipment.
The iconic bird logo, known as “Larry” after basketball player Larry Bird, was a defining part of Twitter’s identity until Elon Musk rebranded the platform as X in 2023.
The social media giant headquarters also underwent a major revamp, with its signature blue bird decorations removed and replaced by black walls and X-themed conference rooms.
Other notable tech-related items in the auction included an Apple-1 computer with accessories, which fetched $375,000, a 1976 Apple Computer Co. cheque signed by Steve Jobs that sold for $112,054, and a sealed first-generation 4GB iPhone, which went for $87,514.
