Over 50 transgender persons, persons with disability (PwD) and leprosy patients have been allocated plots under the special category housing plan of the Kalaignar Kanavu Illam scheme in Tiruchi district, as part of a State Government initiative.

According to an official press release on Tuesday, the scheme, being implemented by the Tiruchi District Revenue Department, has allotted land ownership documents to 55 transgender persons and 15 leprosy patients in Mekkudi village, Manikandam Block, and houses for 19 transgender persons in Murugur, Thuraiyur Block for the year 2025-2026.

A total of 28 PwD beneficiaries will receive homes across the Tiruchi district during 2025-2026. In addition to this, 242 persons who had been given land deeds in Varaguppai village would have homes allotted to them this year, said the release.
