The district administration has announced the hire charges to be collected by private establishments and the Agriculture Engineering Department for renting out harvesters to farmers to harvest paddy during the current season.
According to an official release, the hire charges were fixed at a meeting of farmers, harvester machine owners/agents, and the government officials convened by the district administration recently.
While the private harvester machine service providers were directed to collect ₹2,500 an hour for belt-type harvesting machines and ₹1,850 an hour for tyre-type machine, the Agriculture Engineering Department and the societies, and the farmer producer organisations and individuals owning the harvester machines purchased with government subsidy have been directed to charge ₹1,880 and ₹1,160 respectively while letting out their machines to farmers in Tiruvarur district through the ‘e-Rent’ service platform.
