The Kerala High Court on Monday granted anticipatory bail to Congress leader and lawyer Laly Vincent in a case registered by the Kannur police in connection with the CSR fund scam.  She alleged in her petition that she was being implicated in the case without any basis. She acted only in her capacity as a legal advisor of prime accused Ananthu Krishnan. The police were trying to tarnish her image due to political reasons. The prosecution case was that the prime accused transferred ₹47,74,500 to Ms. Vincent’s bank account over a period of four years. The court pointed out that the petitioner’s stance was that it was a professional fee. In such circumstances, the court was not in a position at this stage to conclude that the petitioner was involved in this case. The court, however, made it clear that that investigating officer was free to probe in accordance with law untrammelled by the observation.
