Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini released the Bharatiya Janata Party’s 21-point manifesto for upcoming municipal polls at Rohtak on Monday, saying that “triple engine” government was required in the State to accelerate the speed of development.

The two-page document, called “Sankalp Patra”, promised ownership rights to all families in rural and urban areas occupying the land and houses for more than 20 years, 25% discount in property tax in case the house is registered in the name of a woman, financial assistance to street vendors, modern libraries, state-of-the-art auditoriums, “pink toilets” equipped with sanitary napkin vending machines and sustainable transport by operating electric buses, among other things.

Referring to the manifesto as “roadmap of the State’s continued development”, Mr. Saini said the party’ had gathered the suggestions of the public from across the State to ensure that the document reflected their aspirations and desires.

Saying that it was no ordinary document, but his government’s “guarantee card”, the Chief Minister said the manifesto was prepared keeping in view the well-being and needs of all sections of society including the farmers, youth, women, traders and the labourers.

In reply to a question, Mr. Saini accused the previous Congress of discrimination, claiming that the BJP government had carried out development across the State. He said the BJP had fulfilled all the promises made in its 2019 manifesto and already delivered on 18 of the 240 promises made in the 2024 manifesto.

The Haryana Congress had on Sunday released its 37-point manifesto for the municipal polls in the State promising to immediately correct wrong Property IDs, simplify house tax, improve traffic system and create street vending zones, among other things.
