The Marine and Coastal Survey Division of the Geological Survey of India (GSI), Mangaluru, hosed a walkathon in the city on Sunday to commemorate the 175th anniversary of the GSI and its contributions to the nation.
Sidharth Goyal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Mangaluru, flagged off the walkathon at GSI’s office at Pandeshwar.
The participants, 160 in total, carried banners to commemorate GSI’s 175-year legacy of geoscientific excellence.
M.N. Shareef, Deputy Director General and Head of the division, GSI, Mangaluru, and former Mayor Premananda Shetty were present on the occasion. The theme of the walkathon was ‘geoscience for a safe world,’ a GSI release said.
