The carcass of a green sea turtle washed ashore on Marina beach in Chennai late on Friday. This is a species seen rarely on the north Tamil Nadu coast compared to the Olive Ridley sea turtles. The carcass was found on the stretch of beach opposite the Public Works Department building. Manish Meena, Wildlife Warden Chennai, said the carcass was taken this morning to the Advanced Institute of Wildlife Conservation, Vandalur, for a post-mortem. DNA profiling of the turtle will also be carried out, Mr. Meena said.
