A gang of five men were nabbed by the Cyber Crime Police of Central Crime Station (CCS), Hyderabad, for defrauding a man by falsely offering a lucrative part-time, task-based job through an online job portal.
The gang members, identified as Paladugula Devakrupa, V.V. Shiva Shankar, Betham Balaraju, Mantri N.S. Prajwal Reddy, and C. Vijay Sagar, forged electronic documents to induce the victim into making payments, promising high returns.
On January 11, a complaint was received from the victim stating that a group of fraudsters impersonated organisers of reputed companies and lured him into investing money with the promise of significant financial returns. “They used multiple bank accounts and fraudulent claims to extract ₹1,93,760 from the victim,” said the police.
During the operation, the police seized six mobile phones, a cash counting machine, eleven passbooks, six cheque books, and three debit cards.
