Members of a gang involved in murder and robbery were nabbed by the Narayanguda police and East Zone Task Force, who recovered stolen loot worth ₹3 crore.

The recovered items includes 710 carats of diamond jewellery, 1.42 kg of gold jewellery, ₹19,63,780 in cash, foreign currency from 24 different countries, and 215 grams of silver.

The prime accused, Molhu Mukhiya alias Manoj Mukhiya, was wanted in a murder-for-gain case from January 2024, under the jurisdiction of Domalguda police, said Commissioner of Hyderabad Police CV Anand. “He, along with associates Mahesh and Rahul, brutally murdered an elderly woman and looted property worth ₹1 crore. The stolen valuables from this case remain unrecovered,” said the officer.

The same gang struck again on the night of February 10, breaking into a residence in Narayanguda, and stealing diamonds, gold, silver, Indian and foreign currency, amounting to over ₹2 crore.

The accused have been identified as Molhu Mukhiya alias Manoj Mukhiya, 35, a daily labourer from Madhubani, Bihar, Susheel Mukhiya, 29, a cook residing in Hyderabad, but originally from Madhubani, Bihar; and Basanthi Arhi, a 40-year-old domestic help from West Bengal.

Their modus operandi involved targeting wealthy households, particularly those belonging to the Marwadi and Jain communities.

“They infiltrated homes by securing jobs as domestic help, such as cooks, maids, and security guards. Once they gained the trust of the owners, they planned and executed burglaries. In some cases, they resorted to murder if they faced resistance. The stolen goods were transported to their native places in Bihar for disposal,” explained the Commissioner.

Molhu Mukhiya was previously involved in major property offences in Delhi and had pending non-bailable warrants against him.

The breakthrough in Narayanguda burglary case came after a complaint was filed by Abhay Kedia, an employee of businessman Rohit Kedia, who had travelled to Dubai with his family for his daughter’s wedding. Upon their return, the extent of the burglary was revealed, with losses amounting to ₹2 crore. Susheel Mukhiya, employed as a cook in the Kedia household, was a prime suspect.

Following instructions from the Hyderabad City Commissioner of Police, special teams were formed. “After meticulously examining CCTV footage and tracking the movement of the suspects, they were nabbed at Nampally Railway Station on Thursday while attempting to flee to Delhi by train,” said the officer.
