In an exclusive interview with ETCFO, Rakesh Kumar Jain, Director (Finance) at GAIL India, shared the company’s key strategic and financial plans for FY26. GAIL plans to raise ₹5,000–₹6,000 crore through long-term borrowings to support its estimated CapEx of ₹10,700 crore. Key allocations include ₹2,700 crore for pipeline infrastructure, ₹3,000 crore for petrochemicals, and ₹1,200 crore for net-zero initiatives as the company aims to achieve Scope 1 and 2 net-zero emissions by 2035.

Jain also discussed the ongoing tariff review of GAIL’s integrated pipeline network, where a proposed hike from ₹58.61 to ₹78.72 per MMBtu could boost bottom line by 23–24%, subject to regulatory approval. He emphasized GAIL’s diversified sourcing strategy and hedging mechanisms that helped the company navigate global price volatility, particularly during the Russia-Ukraine crisis.

On energy transition, GAIL has commissioned a 4.3 TPD green hydrogen plant in Madhya Pradesh and is scaling up its renewable energy capacity to 1.7 GW under Strategy 2030. Jain reaffirmed the company’s commitment to infrastructure-led growth, energy security, and future readiness amid evolving global and domestic energy landscapes.
