Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, on Friday, laid the foundation stones for a synthetic track at an estimated cost of ₹8.50 crore and constructing a table tennis shed with an outlay of ₹50 lakh at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Khammam.
The two development works, funded by the Telangana Urban Finance Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (TUFIDC), will help upgrade the facilities at the stadium.
He said that sports infrastructure is being upgraded to give a fillip to sports and nurture sporting talent in the district, and asked officials to identify 20 acres in Khammam for construction of a cricket stadium, a proposal for which will be submitted to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy soon for approval.
Khammam MP Ramasahayam Raghuram Reddy, Collector Muzammil Khan and others spoke.
