Five people, including two children, were injured in an apparent cylinder blast in Nandagad near Khanapur of Belagavi district on Thursday.

Thirtyfive-year-old Raghunath Basavant Madar, 30-year-old Nagaraj Kolkar, 55-year-old Masanavva Kamble, 26-year-old Manusha Kamble, three-year-old Prakrut Kamble and nine-year-old Aradhya Nilajikar were injured in the fire that broke out in the kitchen.

All the injured have been admitted to hospital where they are recovering. Neighbours helped the residents come out of the house and put out the fire.

The police, who rushed to the spot, have launched an investigation. They also informed the domestic gas company officials.
