Five persons from Bidar who were returning from Maha Kumbh were killed in a road accident near Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, in the early hours of Friday. The accident happened when their vehicle collided with a truck parked on the roadside. Nine others were injured.

The deceased were identified as Lakshmi, 57, Neelamma, 62, Santosh Kumar, 45, Sunitha, 40, and Kalavathi, 40.

Sulochana, Sujatha, Kavitha, Anitha, Khushi, Ganesh, Sai, Bhagavatha, and Shivu were injured.

As per information shared by the police, their vehicle rammed the truck near Rupapur village, killing two persons on the spot.

The pilgrims left Bidar for Prayagraj on February 18. They took a holy bath at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj and later visited Varanasi. The accident occurred when they were returning from Varanasi.
