The distribution of voter information slips to 2.26 lakh voters in the Erode (East) Assembly constituency, headed for byelections on February 5, began on Monday.
The constituency has 2,26,433 voters, comprising 1,09,636 men, 1,16,760 women and 37 trans voters. A total of 237 polling stations are located at 53 locations in the constituency. Booth-level officers began distributing voter information slips, containing details such as voter’s names, Electors’ Photo Identity Card (EPIC) number, serial number in the electoral roll, booth number, date of election and polling time, to voters at their doorstep.
Election officials said the distribution process would be finished in three days, and emphasised that slip alone cannot be used as voters must present their EPIC or one of 11 documents recommended by the Election Commission. They said voters who do not receive their slips can collect it from officials at their respective polling stations later.
Polling will be held on February 5, and votes will be counted on February 8 at the Government College of Engineering (formerly I.R.T.T.) in Chithode.
