The Andhra Pradesh Farmers Association has appealed to voters to elect Progressive Democratic Front (PDF) candidates in the MLC elections to be held on February 27.

President of the association’s State committee V. Krishnaiah and secretary K. Prabhakar Reddy, in a release on Sunday (February 23), said K.S. Lakshman Rao was contesting from the Krishna-Guntur Graduates Constituency, D. Veera Raghavulu from the Godavari Districts Graduates Constituency and K. Vijayagowri from the North Andhra Teachers Constituency as candidates from the PDF.

Victory of these three candidates in the elections is crucial for the employees, teachers, unemployed graduates, farmers, workers and various professional groups fighting for their rights. Whether it is irrigation projects for farmers, minimum support prices for crops, issues faced by dairy farmers, turmeric farmers or cashew farmers, PDF MLCs have raised these issues in the Legislative Council, supporting the struggles of farmers and people’s organisations, they said.

“We appeal to all farmers, teachers from farming families and unemployed graduates in these three constituencies to cast their first-preference votes for the PDF candidates and ensure their victory. We urge the activists and leaders of the Farmers Association in all areas to work towards this goal,” they added.
