Leaders of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) on Tuesday staged a protest at Avanigadda in Krishna district, demanding immediate release of notification on the promised “Mega DSC”.

Federation State secretary G. Ramanna said the TDP-led coalition had promised to release notification for a “Mega DSC” immediately after coming to power. “But, the ruling party has not kept its word even after completing seven months in power,” he said.

Mr. Ramanna said it had been seven years since the last DSC notification and that the unemployed youth had endured a very long wait for it. He said taking their woes into account, the government should immediately act, or face the ire of the fraternity, which may be forced to resort to a confrontation. Stating that around 10 lakh unemployed youth were waiting for the DSC notification, through which the government promised to recruit 16,000 teaching posts in government schools across the State.

He criticised the role of the police in “suppressing peaceful protests staged by the federation.” DYFI office-bearers and DSC aspirants participated in the protest.
