State BJP president K. Annamalai on Wednesday said that the DMK was indulging in disinformation campaigns to divert its failure in various issues.
Addressing a public meeting organised by the district unit of the BJP, he said that the BJP had never imposed Hindi in any manner in the State. It had been advocating the need of learning a third language, which could be either Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada or any other language, in addition to Tamil. The New Education Policy stressed the need for educating the students in their native language. But, the DMK and its alliance parties had been spreading misinformation that the Union government was imposing Hindi. The DMK government had been facing strong criticism among the people on many fronts including poor law and order issues. In order to divert the attention of the people from its failure, the DMK was spreading disinformation against the BJP government by raking up language policy issue.
Mr. Annamalai said that the number of students studying in private schools had overtaken the number of students studying in government schools in the State. Private schools were following the three language formula, but government school students are being denied the chance of learning third language. The State government should not play politics over the future of students, he said.
