Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand on Monday issued a memo, directing the District Collectors to instruct the officers of all departments on the compliance with the protocol courtesies pertaining to MLAs by the government scrupulously.
The memo comes following a letter written to by Legislative Assembly Speaker Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu recently.
In his letter, Mr. Ayyanna Patrudu said the MLAs were facing difficulties in taking the problems faced by the people to the attention of the authorities concerned in various districts with the latter not giving time to the MLAs.
The MLAs are made to wait long hours to meet the officers or the authorities, and the representations relating to the people’s issues submitted by MLAs were neither acknowledged nor answered by the Ministers and the officials, the Speaker pointed out.
Mr. Ayyana Patrudu requested the government to look into the matter and issue the necessary orders to the Ministers, District Collectors and other officials in this regard.
The Chief Secretary said in the memo that consolidated instructions had already been issued on observance of protocol courtesies regarding the VVIPs, VIPs and people’s representatives and the same needed to be adhered to as per norms.
