Digambara poet Nagna Muni urged Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to build a memorial ‘stupa’ to honour the farmers who willingly donated their lands for the construction of Amaravati.

At a poetry book release function in Vijayawada on Sunday, the poet proposed that the names of all such farmers should be etched on a commemorative plaque at the site. He further suggested to rename the State as either ‘Andhra State’ or ‘Navyandhra State’ to reflect its renewed identity.

Two collections of poetry, Bhumi Navvadam Chusanu by Amulya Chandu and Life Drama by Radhakrishna Karri, were launched during the event. The function was chaired by writer and columnist Mukkamala Chakradhar.

Reflecting on the origin of Digambara poetry, a movement aimed at taking literature to the grassroots, Mr. Nagna Muni said: “We released our poetry through ordinary citizens like beggars, hotel workers, and rickshaw pullers to break literary elitism.” He lauded the emerging voices of Amulya and Radhakrishna, and predicted a new poetic wave taking shape in Telugu literature.

The event concluded with the felicitation of dignitaries and participation from a wide circle of poets and poetry lovers.
