Development projects worth ₹98.79 crore undertaken in Mecheri block, says Salem Collector

Development projects worth ₹98.79 crore have been taken up in Mecheri block over the past three and a half years, Salem District Collector, R. Brindha Devi, said on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, the Collector inspected ongoing projects at the Mecheri block, including the construction of a lab building and new classrooms at Vazhadasampatti government higher secondary school at a cost of ₹17.88 lakh and ₹34.60 lakh respectively, construction of a new tank in Vazhadasampatti at ₹13.81 lakh, overhead water tank construction at ₹29.70 lakh in M. Kalipatti, the construction of houses under the Kalaignar Kanavu Illam scheme in Olapatti panchayat, the construction of a compound wall at ₹12 lakh in the M. Kalipatti panchayat union primary school, and the repairing of old houses under Rural Buildings Maintenance and Renovation (RBMR) Scheme at Kuttapatti panchayat.

The State Government is implementing various welfare schemes for the public, said the Collector, and added that inspections are conducted to ensure that these schemes reach people at the right time. “In the past three and a half years, 3,113 projects have been taken up in Mecheri block at a cost of ₹98.79 crore, of which 2,368 works have been completed. Work on the remaining 745 are progressing and contractors have been instructed to complete them within the stipulated period and in good quality,” Ms. Brindha Devi added.

The District Collector, R. Brindha Devi, said that for the welfare of the public, the state government is implementing various welfare schemes and to ensure these schemes reach people at the right time and in good quality, inspections are being conducted. In the past three and a half years, in Mecheri block under various schemes, Rs.98.79 crore worth 3,113 project works were taken and in that 2,368 works were completed. The remaining 745 works are going on and instructions have been given to the contractors to complete these works within the stipulated period in good quality, the Collector added. During the Collector’s inspection officials from concerned departments accompanied the Collector.
