The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) was signed by the Delhi government on Friday and sent to the Centre, said Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh.

The Centre’s flagship insurance scheme will be implemented in the national capital after the National Health Authority (NHA) signs the MoU.

“We are expecting the process to be completed over the next few days,” Mr. Singh told The Hindu.

Registrations for the scheme will start after Saturday, the Minister said.

The Ayushman Bharat scheme provides an annual health cover of ₹5 lakh per family for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation.

One of the BJP’s key promises in the run-up to the Assembly election was implementing PM-JAY in Delhi. The ruling party cleared the implementation of the scheme in the first Cabinet meeting on February 20.
