Cusat to offer upskilling internship programme to students from other varsities

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) has proposed an upskilling internship programme to be offered by various varsity departments to students from other universities and colleges in the State.

The interns will be offered a full-time programme format aimed at providing hands-on experience required to upskill their capabilities and technical knowledge in various areas. The Syndicate has approved the proposal.

The departments have been told to come up with their internship proposals. The duration of the internship will be around two months and upwards as per the recommendations given by the departments. Those who wish to take up the internship opportunity will have to pay the fee as decided by the university authorities.

The proposal has emerged especially in view of the addition of new equipment in various niche areas as part of the infrastructure building done utilising the funds available under the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board. Students in various universities and its affiliated colleges can avail of the internship offered by the varsity departments, according to the authorities.

A communication issued by the varsity said that the internship programme was expected to increase the employability, research aptitude and technical competency of the students, who would be guided by a faculty member in the department concerned during the programme period.
