The Communist Party of India has flayed the ruling AINRC-BJP alliance for its failure to provide 10,000 government jobs as promised during the Assembly election campaign in the Union Territory.

Party’s Puducherry secretary A. M. Saleem in a statement said Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan in his customary address furnished details of 2,444 youths being provided with jobs in government departments through direct recruitment. 

“The ruling party had promised to provide 10,000 government jobs during the election campaign. Now, the Lt. Governor has admitted to recruiting 2,444 youths in the last four years. It is only one-fourth of the commitment given to the voters of Puducherry, “ he said.

The government has also failed to revive the cooperative sector and allot funds to the unorganised workers welfare board, he said.
