A couple sustained severe injuries in an explosion caused by a suspected LPG cylinder leak at their apartment on Davis Road in Pulikeshi Nagar in the early hours of Wednesday.

The injured were identified as Siddesh and his wife Cilara Jacob.

Other apartment residents woke up to a loud explosion-like sound around 5 a.m. and rushed to the couple’s help. The duo sustained severe burn injuries and were rushed to the hospital. The explosion’s impact was so severe that the cylinder and the kitchen area on the first floor facing the road were severely damaged. Even the window grills were shattered and thrown onto the road.

The Pulikeshi Nagar police, along with the Fire and Emergency Services personnel, rushed to the spot. According to the officials, a leakage in the cylinder is suspected to be the reason for the explosion.
