The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) has submitted a memorandum to the Select Committee of Lok Sabha to examine the Income-Tax Bill, 2025, requesting the inclusion of “Cost Accountant” in the definition of “Accountant” under Section 515(3)(b) of the Income-Tax Bill, 2025.

In a statement, the institute said the addition will ensure greater representation in the business scenario, inclusivity, and utilisation of the specialised skills of cost accountants in taxation and compliance-related activities under the evolving tax regime.
