Corporation officials on Tuesday sealed six shops at the Nethaji Commercial Complex over unpaid rent arrears totaling ₹5.48 lakh.
The shops, located on R.K.V. Road, had been rented out at fixed monthly rates. Despite repeated reminders, several shopkeepers failed to pay the rent. Acting on the instructions of Corporation Commissioner Arpit Jain, officials from the Revenue Department issued warning notices demanding payment.
Of the 12 shopkeepers, six cleared their dues, while the remaining did not. As a result, based on the Commissioner’s directive, officials sealed the six defaulting shops and pasted the sealing orders on the shutters. Officials added that adequate time had been given to settle the arrears, but the shopkeepers failed to comply.
