Over 60 folk artistes staged traditional art forms at the Marina Beach here on Sunday evening, drawing thousands of visitors.

The three-hour programme from 6 p.m. was organised by the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC).

The event featured Naiyandi Melam, Karagam, Kaalai Aattam (bull dance) and Mayil Aattam (peacock dance), Paraiattam,Pambai, Silambattam, Kaliyattam and Saattaikuchchi, Thudumbattam by folk performance troupes from across Tamil Nadu.

The civic body plans to hold such cultural programmes at the Marina Blue Flag beach every Sunday evening, a press release said.
